We have channels for general chats, sharing artworks and stories, talking about interests in media, sharing cute pictures of pets, and more! Everything you need to navigate the species and socialize if you choose to! Quest entries can be submitted by dropping them into the grubkit-art channel with a note of what quest it is.Second best place is through our ToyHouse world!

A Grubkit's greatest asset is their healing and regeneration!A Grub can lose their whole tail and grow it back in a matter of months.Only a medical condition caused by genetic abnormality (see: mutations) can prevent them from healing.

All Grubkits are born from the same place:
The Weaver.The Weaver is a one of a kind machine. It weaves genetic code like a loom to cloth, producing new Grubkits to populate Oddity.The timer by which The Weaver functions is unknowable. Sometimes it will go inert for weeks, others it will produce multiple in a single day.Grubkits take the term "found family" to another level - their whole family is found!

Grubkits - The Citizens of Oddity

Grubkits are soft, squishy bodied aliens typically regarded as "cute" by other lifeforms.

These creatures are an artificial species built with resilience in mind - their DNA is a mishmash sourced primarily from the planet Earth of the Milky Way. Arthropod DNA is a significant ingredient. This DNA contributed many useful survival features, like the ability to develop hard exoskeletal armor and natural poison.

Traits

There is room for artistic interpretation in the following traits! As a rule of thumb, traits should always resemble features of real insects. But try not to think of that as a limitation - the insect kingdom can be fantastic and strange! Check the Masterlist for inspiration.Example imagery for traits is in-progress.

Leg Counts

All Grubkits have at least 10 limbs, counting arms, legs, and legs on the tail.
Leggy and Handy variants are common.
Having any more than 10 limbs up to a max of 20 is Multi-Terrain and uncommon.

Antennae

All antennae configurations are common! Antennae can come in many different shapes as well. All antennae share the same coloration/pattern.

Tails

Common: Classic, Earthworm, Gummyworm, Caterpillar
Uncommon: Earwig, Centipede, Scorpion, Isopod, Vinegaroon, Moth, Bumblebee, Ant
Rare: Honeypot Ant, Spider, Lobster

  • False Ears (these 'ears' are vestigial and contain no openings or auditory organs, purely decorative)

  • Classic, Sharps, or Claws applied to hands, feet, or tail legs

  • Toxic (poison/venom can be applied freely to claws, teeth, body, etc)

  • Average height (around 4ft, min 3ft max 5ft)

  • Harlequin (antennae are two different colors from one side of their body to the other)

Mutations

Genetic coding is more of an art than a science, at least in the eyes of The Inventors. Their idea for fixing would-be fatal flaws in the Grubkit's DNA structure was to patch it with whatever would fit - making for some... interesting results.
Grubkits can have up to five mutations before their DNA becomes too unstable.

Here's looking at you! And you, and you too. So many eyes! Allows development of odd eye numbers, more than 8 eyes, and eyes in odd places.

Franken-Body

The body is visibly mismatched, with traits that don't add up. Mantis arms on just one side, mismatched antennae, only one ear...?!
Sometimes the parts are visibly stitched

Ghost Flesh

Causes all or part of a grub's skin to be transparent, revealing their innards. It's like looking through Jello to see chunks of fruit inside!

Owch! Hey... did your tail just bite me?? Causes the development of extra mouths in odd places.
